Louisiana Art & Science Museum “Experimental Light” Exhibition

My works Jewel and Winter’s Veil will be exhibited at The Louisiana Art & Science Museum in Experimental Light, alongside the innovative work of Alyce Simon, which are also in the museum’s permanent collection. The show opens Jan 9, 2021 and runs through July 11, 2021. I’m looking forward to this terrific opening to a new year!

Alyce Simon Tree of Life
Alyce Simon “D3 (Tree of Life)” from Tree of Life Series, 1971, Irradiated acrylic, 10 x 9 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. Louisiana Art & Science Museum Collection. Gift of Tree of Life Foundation.
Simon made radical artworks with a particle accelerator, a machine historically referred to as “an atom smasher.” Provided rare access to the machine in a laboratory, Simon experimented with the effects of radiation on acrylic plastic. Over time, she learned to control the resulting fracture patterns. These patterns resembled tree roots or branches, an allusion to the infinite and the eternal. Simon’s work culminated in a sculpture series titled “Tree of Life,” which occupied her from 1970 until 1986.
